Hong Kong

 

The Company’s first overseas base was in Hong Kong, where it established a local subsidiary in July 1990 and was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in September 1995.
The Company has a long-standing collaboration with AEON Stores Hong Kong, a local retailer, including offering a 5% discount on purchases on Customer Appreciation Day.

The Company has also leveraged the strengths of its Japanese brand to issue cobranded cards with Japanese airlines and character cards featuring popular anime characters. In 2022, the Company launched the "AEON Card WAKUWAKU," which offers discounts on credit card use in Japan, helping to expand the customer base.

The Company is also working to expand its business by improving customer convenience, including support for code payments and NFC (Near Field Communication), which are becoming more common in mainland China.

Thailand

 

In Thailand, the Company established a local subsidiary in 1992 as a second overseas sales base after Hong Kong, and listed its shares on the Stock Exchange of Thailand in 2001.
Credit cards were not yet widely used in Thailand, so the Company expanded its business by offering retail financing such as credit cards and personal loans.

The Company is working to increase its membership base through partnerships with local companies, such as issuing a co-branded card with Thai Airways International and an integrated membership card featuring the electronic money system "Rabbit" in partnership with the BTS Group, which operates railway businesses.

The Company has also leveraged the know-how it has cultivated in the credit card business to expand into insurance and servicer businesses, providing a variety of locally rooted financial services.

Malaysia

 

In 1996, the Company established its third base in Malaysia. In addition to furniture and home appliances, the Company has expanded its business through motorcycle installment payments. Motorcycle installment payments account for a large market share of new vehicle registrations and are highly popular with customers.

In 2003, the Company began offering personal loans, and in 2005 became the first non-bank in Malaysia to issue a credit card. The Company steadily expanded its business and was listed on Bursa Malaysia in December 2007.

In 2024, AEON BANK (M) BERHAD opened Malaysia's first Islamic finance digital bank. In 2025, the Company established AEON360 Sdn. Bhd., a joint venture with AEON Malaysia, the AEON Group's retail business, to further expand business.

China

 

In China, the Company established a company in Shenzhen in May 2000 to handle call center operations, credit screening, and credit management, improving operational efficiency by accepting inquiries and conducting credit screening for its Hong Kong subsidiary.

In addition, the Company established AEON Microfinance Shenzhen in 2013, providing a wide range of financial services to individual customers.

Indonesia

 

In May 2006 the Company established business in Indonesia, the country with the largest population in ASEAN.

Leveraging the Company’s credit business expertise in Japan and other Asian countries, the Company began offering installment payments for home appliances and furniture, and in 2013 began issuing credit cards.

By 2024, the Company is working to strengthen its efforts to attract cardholders through partner companies, including issuing credit cards in partnership with Indonesian internet service providers and the international payment brand JCB.

Vietnam

 

In June 2008, the Company obtained a business license from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Investment of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and launched its own installment payment business in Vietnam.

In Vietnam, which is positioned as a key country in the AEON Group's overseas strategy, ACS TRADING VIETNAM CO., LTD. began offering the group's shared points system, "WAON POINT," in October 2024.

Additionally, in February 2025, the Company acquired a stake in Post and Telecommunication Finance Company Limited (now AEON Consumer Finance Company Limited), obtaining a local finance license and beginning to offer personal loans and individual item installment payments. The Company is working to further expand its business, with an eye toward issuing digital credit in the future.

India

 

In February 2013, the Company obtained a non-banking license from the Reserve Bank of India and established a local subsidiary in Mumbai.

The Company is working to expand its business by providing a mobile phone installment payment service tailored to local needs, and began offering personal loans in fiscal 2018.

Cambodia

 

Since its establishment in October 2011, AEON Bank became the first Japanese company to launch an installment sales business, offering installment payments for durable consumer goods such as televisions and mobile phones, as well as small unsecured loans.

In October 2015, AEON Bank became the first Japanese company to obtain a specialized banking license from the National Bank of Cambodia (the central bank), and launched a credit card business in 2016. The Company will continue to provide Cambodian customers with even more convenient and affordable financial services, such as offering preferential benefits at AEON Group shopping centers.

Laos

 

In January 2013, the Company established a company in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, and began offering installment payments for home appliances and mobile phones.

In 2014, the Company began offering installment payments for motorcycles, and is working to expand its business through the issuance of membership cards and joint promotional projects with affiliated stores.
